Tasmania Branch

About us

The HIMAA Tasmanian branch is focused on supporting members through education and expanding the knowledge of our members. We endeavour to be a foundation to provide members with a strong network and a sense of unity.

The Tasmanian branch hosts several education activities during Health Information Awareness Week and an annual Professional Development day.

As a branch, we sponsor members to attend the HIMAA National Conference, and members are also invited to present at the Conference.

The Tasmanian branch is small but is very active. Members are based in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie with a wide range of expertise including traditional HIM roles, clinical coding, auditing and education, information technology, strategy and policy, research, digital health and teaching. The HIM degree is not offered in Tasmania, therefore many of the members have completed online qualifications or have come from interstate. This creates a diverse knowledge base for members to tap into and learn from each other.

As co-convenors, Hayley and Cindy welcome and encourage branch members to reach out with any queries, suggestions or feedback.
