    Details of position/position requirements
    •Completion of mandatory reporting of the VAED and other related activities
    •Assisting in the mandatory reporting of Victorian Cancer Registry data and other related activities
    •Provide Clinical Coding/Casemix education for all Austin Health staff including clinicians
    •Carry out morbidity classification of Austin Health inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM and ACHI 11th edition, including associated National and State Standards to ensure DHHS deadlines are met
    •Respond to ad hoc data requests for Royal Talbot inpatient episodes using the Austin Health Performance Reports, AROC and TRAK databases for reports and analysis as required
    •Review subacute funding data for accuracy and optimal performance
    •Maintain up to date knowledge of developments in Health Information Management, emerging HIS issues and legislation, including Activity Based Funding (ABF) pertinent to inpatient Sub Acute Services and provide advice on classifications used in ABF and DHHS funding streams
    •Optimise the quality of the coding by participating in and taking responsibilities for continuous quality improvement strategies including internal audit programs, the use of PICQ and other quality improvement activities
    •Assist with research request from internal and external Departments
    •Assist in the supervision of Health Information Management students
    •Assist the Coding Manager and other Senior Health Information Managers with other duties as required

    To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:
    •Bachelor of Health Information Management or other equivalent qualification
    •Eligibility for full membership to the Health Information Management Association of Australia
    •Knowledge and experience of mandatory reporting and subacute funding
    •Excellent clinical coding skills and a good understanding of Casemix and Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs)
    •Ability to determine priorities and organise workload effectively and efficiently
    •Well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as a member of a large team
    •Well developed written and verbal communication skills
    •Knowledge of legislation, policies and standards relevant to Health Information Services
    •Advanced computer skills with a strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Powerpoint

    •Minimum of 2 years' experience in a coding related role
