Royal Darwin Hospital is the Northern Territory’s largest tertiary referral and teaching hospital and Australia’s National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre. It is a University Teaching Hospital providing acute hospital services to the residents of the Top End of the Northern Territory, while acting as a tertiary referral hospital for the remainder of the Northern Territory, the Kimberley region of Western Australia and the northern neighbours in the event of a man made or natural disaster in the region. The Hospital has a catchment population of some 150 000 people and directly serves an area of 127 000 square kms.

Clinical Coding in the Top End is guaranteed to be a totally different experience to anywhere else in the country and while working at Royal Darwin Hospital you will gain exposure to a unique case mix that can only enhance your future in coding.

You will be part of the leadership team responsible for the supervision and training/mentoring of Clinical Coders. Experience in performing coding audits and providing education and training to support accurate coding of morbidity data for internal and external reporting activities in accordance with the operational requirements of the Top End Health Service.

You will require a minimum of five years’ experience in Clinical Coding with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and Australian Coding Standards (ACS), 10th Edition, in an acute care tertiary level hospital with high quality and productivity results. As well as good organisational skills, strong work ethic and ability to communicate effectively with all staff.
