The Role:

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Health Information Manager to join our Health Information Services team at The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. The position on offer is a 12 month parental leave full-time (EFT) Grade 2 Health Information Manager, with a focus on managing requests for access to the EMR patient portal, data reporting, clinical coding and indexing of hospital separations, and quality improvement activities related to coding and patient data.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing and processing requests for access accounts to the electronic medical record (EMR) patient portal
  • Running monthly Cyberquery reports
  • Assisting with accurate and timely submission of statutory reporting requirements
  • Amending data to ensure accuracy and completeness when required
  • Providing support to staff with data entry requirements and education

The role will also involve the accurate and timely assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with ICD-10-AM/ACHI and the Australian Coding Standards.

The successful incumbent will be organised, have good presentation and communcation skills, attention to detail and a willingness to take on new challenges, self-educate and learn from others.

It is essential to have a qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent. Coding experience is preferred but not essential.
