    An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Coding Auditor/Coding Educator to join our Health Information Services team. Your excellent time management and organisational skills, along with considerable clinical coding experience will ensure your success in this position.

    As a Clinical Coding Auditor/Coding Educator your responsibilities will include:

    • Responsible for abstracting and allocating accurate clinical codes to inpatient episodes of care in an efficient and effective manner using ICD/ACHI/ACS
    • Train and audit clinical coders within the department, and also provide training and support to trainee coders
    • Assist and follow up with coding, health fund and billing enquiries as and when required
    • Prepare for and assist during health fund audits
    • Liaise with clinical professionals to ensure clear and concise documentation to facilitate the accurate coding of inpatient data
    • Assist and support the Health Information Manager (HIM) in all aspects of clinical coding, medical record management and related activities

    Essential Criteria:

    • HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding with experience in ICD-10-AM , ACHI & ACS
    • Eligible for membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia
    • 5+ years of experience in hospital medical record coding for a variety of medical and surgical specialities
    • Knowledge of Clinical coding, Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) and Casemix
    • Understanding of the Hospital and State policies and legal requirements in regards to privacy and protection of patient information
    • Strong organisational skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work within a team environment
