Clinical Coder

 Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals

Metro North Hospital and Health Service is the biggest and most diverse Hospital and Health Service in Queensland, delivering the best care by the brightest healthcare professionals.

Two of our five hospitals – Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) – are tertiary/quaternary referral hospitals, providing state-wide super specialty services, such as heart and lung transplantation and burns treatment. Redcliffe and Caboolture are major secondary hospitals, and Kilcoy is a regional community hospital.

About the Role

  • Clinical coding – abstract and verify relevant information in the clinical record; assign accurate ICD-10-AM codes and perform DRG grouping according to the Australian Coding Standards, State Coding Authority and legislative guidelines within designated timeframes
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding practices and standards, state and federal regulations pertaining to clinical classification, activity based funding and related computer applications
