You will be able to access digital issues of the internationally impact-rated Health Information Management Journal and editions of the practical based HIM-Interchange posted to your chosen address three times per year. You also have access to online versions through the HIMAA Website.

Pulse+IT Website Subscription

Participation in the Professional Credentialing Scheme

HIMAA’s Professional Credentialing Scheme allows members free of charge to gain the post-nominal CHIM (Certified Health Information Manager) for Full or New Graduate Members or CHIP (Certified Health Information Practitioner) for Senior Associate or Associate Members.

Eligibility for discounts under the HIMAA Referral Program

The HIMAA Referral Program (used to call Recruitment Scheme) gives current members the opportunity to get benefits for helping to recruit new members to HIMAA.

Full member

A graduate of a Health Information Management degree program accredited by the Association or accredited by another entity recognised by the Association through a Memorandum of Understanding.

Senior Associate
Australian Residents $290 | Overseas Residents $345

A graduate of an Approved Program or have a minimum of five years senior level experience in the health information industry

Australian Residents $250 | Overseas Residents $300

Individuals who are interested in, are working in, committed to or affiliated with the health information industry and are ineligible for Full member or Senior Associate member

New Graduate
Australian Residents $170 | Overseas Residents $210

Individuals who have graduated within the past 12 months with a HIMAA-accredited university degree from one of the accredited universities or a HIMAA Approved Program.


Individuals currently undertaking a course of study (studying full-time or part-time) of a HIMAA Accredited or HIMAA Approved Program who is not in full-time employment. Students studying other related courses are welcome to apply and will be assessed on a case by case basis – to apply click here.


Persons who are Full Members who have practised in health information management, who have been a Full Member for a minimum of seven continuous years, and have made a significant contribution to the field of health information management as recognised by the Board. Fellowship entitles the member to bear the post nominal FHIMAA.

If you qualify for one of these Membership categories but are retired, on maternity leave, or workingless than 15 hours per week, please contact our Membership Officer (at about Membership at a concessional rate.
