This role will support the Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance (HPSP) Division by working in close collaboration with the Statewide Health Information Management – Clinical Coding Network (SHIM-CNN) to continue the delivery and ongoing maintenance of the state-wide clinical coder training, development education program. This role will also provide ongoing support and management of state-wide clinical coding related software and is responsible for vendor liaison, state-wide support and testing of the electronic clinical coding software.
What we are looking for:
You must be an expert in the classification of diseases and operations using the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) across a broad range of specialities and have expert knowledge of the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI), Australian Coding Standards (ACS) and Australian Refine Diagnosis Related Group (AR-DRG) classifications. You must also have expert knowledge in clinical coding software applications (such as 3M Codefinder, Performance Indicators for Coding Quality (PICQ®)) and experience in vendor negotiation and system management and software testing.
Ideally you will be able to work autonomously, but collaborate with stakeholders, to develop and facilitate detailed and specialty-specific clinical coding education programs using the principals of adult learning. You will also be able to project manage, plan, organise, direct and evaluate the effectiveness of these programs.
In addition, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills including consultation, negotiation and complex problem resolution skills and the capacity to negotiate on behalf of the SHIM-CCN and its application within Queensland Department of Health. You will have experience in writing and developing guidelines, procedures and instructions for staff, briefing notes and business cases.
Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance (HPSP) Division is responsible for purchasing public health and social services from service providers and managing the performance associated with those purchasing decisions to optimise health gains, reduce inequalities and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the health system. Working with other key areas within the department, the division ensures health funding is used effectively to meet government priorities and deliver public health services to improve health outcomes for the population of Queensland.
