Position Title: Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder
Classification: Dependent on experience
Hours per fortnight: 80 (ongoing)+ 40 (fixed term - 12 months)
Employment Status: Ongoing + Fixed Term
- Coding and grouping of inpatient episodes, using ICD-10-AM 11th edition
- Participate in an ongoing coding auditing program that improves coding and optimise revenue results.
- Involvement in record management activities, including retention and disposal, storage and conversion from paper to a digital environment.
- Support other health information activities as required
- A tertiary qualification in Health Information Management (or equivalent) or recognised Clinical Coding course and eligible for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMMA).
- Unsupervised coding experience is desirable
- A high standard of organisation, communication attention to detail and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be self-directed, motivated and committed to self-improvement

The Quality and Patient Information Division provides leadership for the nursing workforce throughout Bendigo Health. Quality and Patient Information provides leadership and support for quality improvement, patient safety and experience and health information services across the organisation. The division, through both Health Information Services and Quality have key roles in medical record management, clinical documentation, freedom of information, patient safety, quality improvement, risk management, external reporting and compliance requirements. There is a strong strategic and operational focus of promoting quality improvement, supporting the organisation to review incidents, data and systems to improve patient outcomes and efficiency of the business.
In addition, the Executive Director of Quality and Patient Information holds the professional portfolio of Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer. Nurses are the largest work group within Bendigo Health and the division is focused on supporting our nursing workforce to feel valued and empowered.
